Dual Mental Disorders in People

People with dual mental disorders often don?t realize they may be in trouble until it is very serious. Quite often, researchers have found that people they believed to be suffering from one mental disorder, generally have another disorder that is less severe and better hidden then the first one. This often explains why people are considered normal at one moment and abnormal at other moments with not to large of a time span between. Often, for this reason, dual diagnosis rehab is required to get the person back on the right track. Sometimes, the secondary disease becomes apparent within a few tests whereas other times it takes a great number of tests to discover the underlying mental condition. When this occurs it is often necessary for treatment to be two stage or dual purpose so that both conditions can be eliminated and the individual can resume his or her normal life with their family and friends.
